The Middle East is a region where vehicle is king and fuel is inexpensive, frequently leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.
But this year, as demonstrations throughout the Middle East have pressed up the rate of oil, the issue of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In an area that has one of the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one business is benefiting from the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It’s set up the Middle East’s first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It’s proving profitable too, already their client-list contains McDonald’s.
